The Marine Information Alliance is a focal point for efforts to advance the use and integration of ocean observation, monitoring and forecasting for societal and economic benefit.
As part of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology, the Alliance acts in an independent capacity as an effective communications link between business sectors and between industry, academia and government.
The Alliance maintains close links with other international, regional and national bodies concerned with ocean observation, monitoring and forecasting such as the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission, the Global Earth Observation initiative and related regional and national organisations.
Members of the Alliance include a broad spectrum of organisations (companies, trade associations, research and educational institutions, government departments and agencies).
